Federal Government Extends COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Through October
The Federal Government has decided to continue the nationwide COVID-19 public-health emergency through October of 2022. As a reminder, the Secretary of Health and Human Services declared a Public Health Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic on January 31, 2020. It has been consistently extended from that time to April of 2022. The current Secretary has decided that the emergency designation needs to be extended again.
This continued designation means that many healthcare-related pandemic measures will continue for the foreseeable future. Importantly, this includes the relaxed due dates on many employment-related healthcare items, such as COBRA elections.
